Lincoln Strategy Group abundantly invests in our community. Giving back is just an organizational norm at LSG with nearly 100% of our employees regularly volunteering at local non-profit organizations.

The recent holidays were no different. This year, we found two great ways to help others by adopting a family and wrapping presents. And we’re not stopping there. We are already planning exciting 2018 philanthropic endeavors enabling us to give of our time, talents, and treasures. But first, a recap of our 2017 holiday giving…

Adopt a Family

LSG adopted a five-person family in the Tempe area through St. Vincent de Paul: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. We enjoyed this intimate sort of adoption process as we were able to meet and communicate with the family instead of being an anonymous donor. On December 23rd, we delivered a holiday dinner and gifts from the family’s wish list. The presents included a laptop, bikes for all the children, and winter coats for the entire family. We loved being able to provide gifts and groceries totaling close to $1,000 in value but the best part was seeing the beaming smiles from the family as we revealed the gifts and saw “Lincoln Cares” in action.

Wrapping Presents with Nordstrom

While adopting a family consisted mostly of donating monetary gifts – or what we think of as giving of our treasures – we also wanted to invest our time and help an organization we love. Cortney’s Place immediately came to mind. This organization, originally founded in 2007, is designed to assist adults with special needs. For the 2017 holiday season, Courtney’s Place partnered with Nordstrom’s for a gift wrapping fundraiser and needed festive elves to wrap presents for holiday shoppers. Say no more! We were delighted to put on the Santa Hat, wrap presents and know that the time spent was going to a worthwhile cause.

2018 Volunteer Outlook

During this upcoming year, we plan to continue our Corporate Social Responsibility and help the community – specifically families and children in need. Our Lincoln Cares team is planning a great year with a laser focus on where we can strategically give of our time, talents, and treasures. Our hope for 2018 is to better know the philanthropic organizations, the people, and their priorities so we can better serve and support what they need, just when they need it.

As LSG continues to grow, our goal is to be able to give more time and money to our favorite nonprofits. In 2018, LSG will still support Courtney’s Place as well as  St. Vincent de Paul. We will also work more closely with Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) and New Empowerment for Refugees (NER). Currently, we are planning a gardening activity with SARRC, and are cleaning some of our laptops and desktops to donate to NER so that refugees can install Rosetta Stone and learn English.

Lincoln Cares is an integral part of who we are as an organization. Giving makes the community stronger and us better as people. We are pleased with the ways we could invest in 2017 and are anticipating a great 2018.
